Career Changed

Not all puppies are selected to be working guide dogs (due to either physical or training issues.) but all play an important role in the mission of Guide Dogs for the Blind. These puppies are not considered failures as they are anything but that! They are called career changed dogs because they go on to many other careers including therapy, search and rescue, diabetic detection, law enforcement, and family pets. Vinnie is a Male Yellow Lab who was raised by Josie as her 1st puppy. He was born April 9, 2013 to Calgary and Neva.

Vinnie was transferred in May 2014 and will be finished by raisers in Colorado, Vinnie was career changed January 2015 for playing keep away and was adopted by his first raiser.

Iona is a Female Yellow Lab who was raised by Sara and Paker as their 2nd puppy. She was born July 11, 2013 to Vern and Favor.

Iona was career changed and was adopted by her raisers.

Topaz is a Female Yellow Lab who was started by Megan as her 13th puppy. She was born March 5, 2013 to Curt and Joyous.

Topaz was transferred September 2013 and will be finished by raisers in Utah.

Topaz was career changed June 2014 for cataracts and was placed by her second raiser.

Sapphire is a Female Golden Retriever who was raised by Michael as his 2nd puppy. She was born April 10, 2013 to Tom and Monet.

Sapphire was career changed May 2014 for fear issues and is now living with her raisers.

Roamer is a Male Black Lab who was by Trevor and Avery as their 1st puppy. He was born December 14, 2012 to Cabby and Yoga.

Roamer was career changed May 2014 for having sensitive feet and is now living with his raisers.

Gideon is a Male Yellow Lab who was raised by the Williams family as their 1st puppy. He was born March 30, 2012 to Simon and Dorcella.

Gideon was career changed October 2013 for relieving in harness and is now living with his raisers.

Wheeler is a Male Black Lab who was raised by the Gardner Family as their 1st puppy. He was born April 9, 2013 to Phoenix and Sheba.

Wheeler was career changed August 2013 for a birth defect and was placed by GDB.

Onessa is a Female Yellow Lab/Golden Cross who was raised by the Hall Family as their 3rd puppy. She was born July 30, 2011 to Jonathan and Matisse.

Onessa was career changed January 2013 for relieving in harness and is now living with relatives of her raisers.

Rockne is a Male Black Lab who was transferred to Beverly and Rachel as their 4th puppy and Liz as her 5th puppy. He was born June 18, 2011 to Simon and Harbor.

Rockne was career changed October 2012 for temperament issues and was placed by GDB.

Roscoe is a Male Black Lab who was started by Kris and Hannah as their 8th puppy. He was born February 21, 2011 to Nevin and Genova. Roscoe left for formal training May 2012.

Roscoe was transferred September 2011 to the high school program in Utah.

Roscoe was career changed September 2012 for behavior issues and was placed by GDB.

Athens is a Male Yellow Lab who was started by Beverly and Rachel as their 3rd puppy and then transferred to Liz as her 4th puppy. He was born March 4, 2011 to Nicasio and Carlita. Athens left for formal training May 2012

Athens was career changed August 2012 for fear of traffic and is now living with friends of his raisers.

Tartan is a Male Black Lab who was started by Megan as her 11th puppy. He was born February 23, 2011 to Marino and Della. Tartan left for formal training June 2012.

Tartan was transferred September 2011 to the high school program in Utah.

Tartan was career changed August 2012 for a fear of traffic and was placed by GDB, he is now training as a diabetic detection dog.

Hazelle is a Female Yellow Lab who was started by Katherine as her 2nd puppy. She was born to Jenkins and Jillian.

Hazelle was career changed November 2011 for fearful behavior and was placed by GDB.

Jacinda is a Female Black Lab who was started by Beverly and Rachel as their 2nd puppy and then transferred to Liz as her 3rd puppy. She was born February 20, 2010 to Simon and Elsa.

Jacinda was career changed October 2011 for being mouthy when greeting people and was placed by GDB.

Kyle is a Male Yellow Lab who was raised by Amanda as her 3rd puppy. He was born November 24, 2009 to Dutch and Gracie.

Kyle was career changed September 2011 for control issues and playing keep away and was placed by GDB.

Sugar is a Female Golden Retriever who was raised by Kris and Hannah as their 7th puppy. She was born November 10, 2009 to Oryan and Crystal.

Sugar was career changed April 2011 for Alert Barking and Confidence Issues and is now living with her raiser.

Dickens is a Male Yellow Lab who was started by Jordan as her 1st puppy. He was born February 13, 2009 to Bosworth and Lilo.

Dickens was transferred May 2009, and was finished by raisers in Colorado.

Dickens was career changed June 2010 for Dog Distraction and is now living with friends of his 2nd raisers.

Peanut is a Male Black Lab who was raised by Emily as her 3rd puppy. He was born February 20, 2009 to Eric and Blossom.

Peanut was career changed June 2010 for a Heart Condition and is now living with his raisers.

Paris is a Female Yellow Lab who was raised by Megan as her 8th puppy. She was born February 20, 2009 to Eric and Blossom.

Paris was career changed May 2010 for Persistant Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous (aka blind spots in her central vision) and is now living with her raiser.

Myra is a Female Yellow Lab who was raised by Kris and Hannah as their 3rd puppy. She was born September 5, 2007 to Domingo and Debra.

Myra was career changed August 2009 for Distraction Issues and was accepted into the Dogs4Diabetics program. Myra graduated as a Medical Alert Dog in June 2010.

Sparky is a Male Black Lab who was raised by the Brailsford Family as their 2nd puppy. He was born September 10, 2007 to Denzel and Parkay.

Sparky was career changed August 2009 for Fear Issues and is now living with his raisers.

Dax is a Male Yellow Lab/Golden Cross (2nd Generation) who was raised by the Bushman Family as their 2nd puppy. He was born February 12, 2008 to Domingo and Tulin.

Ontario is a Male German Shepherd who was raised by Lindsey as her 9th puppy. He was born January 19, 2007 to Antoine and Philly.

Montgomery is a Male Yellow Lab who was raised by the Klamm Family as their 1st puppy. He was born January 12, 2007 to Bob and Yolie.

Conan is a Male Blakc Lab who was raised by the Klein Family as their 2nd puppy. She was born July 6, 2006 to Bruce and Vespa.

Conan was career changed December 2007 for Elbow Dysplasia and is now living with his raisers.

Tiera is a Female Yellow Lab who was raised by Jane as her 1st puppy. She was born February 17, 2006 to Faust and Rebecca.

Adeline is a Female Yellow Lab who was raised by Megan as her 4th puppy. She was born October 25, 2005 to Kinsey and Vonnie.
